After osteotomy and debridement, the limb with bone defect was fixed with exter- nal fixator and the transport bone segment was fixed with needles which can slide. Bone transport was performed according to the established direction, velocity and frequency. Then new bones generated between resected surfaces so as to repair the bone defects. With Ilizarov technique popularized in China, bone transport provides a new idea in the treatment of bone de- fects, nonunion, infection and tumors.
